Golf

St Andrews is known the world over as 'The Home of Golf'. It has seven golf courses in the town, including the world famous Old Course and the exciting newcomer the Castle Course which is due to open in June 2008. There are also numerous excellent courses within the surrounding area such as Kingsbarns, Scotscraig, Ladybank and many more. Old Course and Beach

But there is much more to St Andrews than golf. Here you'll discover stunning award-winning beaches where you'll find surfing, sand-yachting and kite flying as well as buckets and spades. We also have an aquarium, a cinema, the Byre Theatre, the delightful botanic gardens, the University with its glorious quadrangles and architecture, a castle and cathedral dating from medieval times and various interesting museums exploring the town's fascinating history.

If you fancy a spot of shopping there are many small, interesting shops which make a refreshing change from the usual high street names. Take a break from shopping at one of the numerous cafes and have a well-earned cuppa or a delicious ice cream.

Lobster Pots

The local area provides a wealth of interest, particularly the East Neuk with its picturesque fishing villages and boat trips and which is also home to various arts and music festivals including the East Neuk Festival and the Pittenweem Arts Festival.

Those of you interested in visiting houses and gardens owned by the National Trust for Scotland will find many within easy reach for example Kellie Castle, Pittenweem, Falkland Palace and Hill of Tarvit, Mansionhouse and Gardens, Cupar.

West Sands

Outdoor lovers will find there is excellent walking including the Fife Coastal Path. Cyclists are also well catered for with a network of cycle routes including quiet country lanes and forest tracks. A wealth of outdoor activities including horse riding and quad biking are also available locally.

Visitors wishing to explore further afield will find themselves within easy travelling distance of Edinburgh, Perth, Stirling and Dundee.
